Last weekend, the team at T & C Services went to Weston Park to support Ben Smith on his first ever rally, the AGBO Stages. With his dad, Peter Smith, as co-driver, and our very own Carole on the sidelines cheering them on, the day was packed full of exciting racing, dramatic moments, and mechanical failures!Â
They began the day as car 59, progressing nicely through the stages before they had a little off and nearly got stuck in the mud! They got going again, and Ben went from position 59 to 38 in the first 5 stages. Unfortunately at the beginning of stage 6 they had some mechanical issues and were forced to pull out of the rally. It was gutting for Ben who had looked forward to this rally for such a long time, but proved to be a valuable experience and one to take forward into the next one.Â
Huge shoutout to Rabbit Recovery for making themselves available for the event, ensuring the safety of drivers and spectators was up to scratch.Â
Residents around Stevenage will hear the echo of competitive driving for the first time on July 12th this year as public roads nearby will be closed for the New Hertfordshire Stages. Ben and Peter will be in attendance hoping to do better on home soil. The event has been given the green light after two years’ of preparation work by Middlesex County Automobile Club and Herts Motor and Aero Club.Â
