At T & C Services we are proud to be supportive of the ‘Campaign for Safer Roadside Rescue & Recovery’ and is fully behind it’s push for recovery workers to use red lights when at the roadside.
The roadside is a very dangerous place, yet for some, this is the office; this is where rescue and recovery drivers spend most of their day helping the public when they are left stranded due to a breakdown or accident. Recovery drivers work all hours of the day and whatever the weather to help get you off the dangerous roads as quick as possible.
Unfortunately, recently, there have been a number of high profile deaths by the roadside and many more serious injuries. Though we know about the high profile cases, there are many more cases that have been unreported, and the true extent of the problems on British motorways is unknown.
Though terrible and shocking, these high profile deaths have sparked campaigns for the safety of Roadside Recovery & Repair workers, and this year there has been real progress made.
The ‘Campaign for Safer Roadside Rescue & Recovery’ are calling for your help however! If you support the cause then please click on the image below to find your local MP and then send an automated email calling for their participation in an event being held in July.
The CSRRR is calling on the government to:
- Permit roadside rescue and recovery operators to use flashing red warning beacons.
- Halt the roll-out of All Lane Running motorways until the safety has been reviewed.
- Insert a clause into the Highway Code instructing users to ‘slow down and move over’.
- Collect data on the number of safety incidents involving roadside recovery vehicles and operators.
